Playing Time
• 4 periods of 10 minutes each.
• After 4 fouls in each period, the team fouls penalty rule
shall be applied.
• 15 minutes half-time interval.2minutes' interval between 1st
and 2nd, and between 3rd and 4th period.
• 1 time-out in 1st , 2nd and 3rd period and 2 time-outs in
4th period.
• Time-outs must be one entire minute.Shot Clock
• 24 seconds duration.
• The clock shall be reset to 24 seconds after the ball,
released for a shot, touches the ring. The clock shall be
restarted and a new 24-second period begins as player control
is next established on court. Should the 24-second clock
expire once the ball is in the air for a field goal attempt,
then the game clock shall be stopped automatically and, when
the ball enters the basket, it will be considered valid.
Otherwise it shall be considered violation and the ball will
go to the defensive team.
Eight-Second Rule
• The ball must be caused to go into the front court
within 8 seconds.
Substitutions
• During the last 2 minutes of a game or extra period, any
time the ball is dead and the game and the game clock is
stopped after a field goal, the team entitled to the ball for
a throw-in from the end line may take advantage of a
substitution opportunity . Should the team in question take
advantage of this , the opponents may do likewise.
Three-man officiating
• Basketball will benefit from three-man officiating.
• The governing body of a competition shall have the right to
decide whether to apply three-man officiating.
• FIBA shall apply three-man officiating for Olympic Games and
World Championships.
• The NCAA three-man officiating mechanics shall be used and
will become part of the Referees' Manual.
Technical foul by a player
• The penalty for a technical foul by a player has been
changed to one free throw followed by possession of the ball
at mid-court. |
